
Josephine Macken, DO
Dr. Josephine Macken is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician. Specialists in this field are also known as physiatrists.
Dr. Josephine Macken did her undergraduate study at Fordham University and graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her internship at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, a teaching hospital affiliated with Columbia University. She did her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Columbia-Missouri. Towards the end of her residency, she accepted an offer from Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield, Wisconsin as an attending physician. She has worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
Dr. Macken served in a consultative capacity in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for hospitalists, trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and oncologists. She also worked closely with spine interventionalists for pain intervention. During her career at Marshfield Clinic Health System, Dr. Macken also served as the medical director for its Carf Accredited Rehab Unit. She led an interdisciplinary team which consisted of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, rehab nurses and social workers.
Living in Ave Maria has been a long standing dream of Dr. Macken, for various reasons that Ave Maria has to offer. One of Dr. Macken’s mottos is “dare to dream,” but with submission to God’s will. She realized her dream when she, her husband, and daughter moved to Ave Maria in July 2021. Dr. Macken looks forward to serving the Ave Maria community and beyond.
